"I want a job as a bellydancer!!! How long do I have to take classes?"
Sorry! Unless you have been studying Bellydance for 3+ years under constant training, you are NOT ready for a professional Bellydance career. We are inundated with dancers that are currently dancing in restaurants and professional venues that have studied for less that 3 years and it shows. After 3 consistent years of Bellydance technique training, then you need to move into intensive training for performances and understanding of the entertainment business. Allow yourself the freedom of learning and getting your dance style infallible before coming onto the scene. Study with a good instructor, mentor with an instructor you admire....and learn. As a dancer you become an ambassador of a culture that is not yours, take the time to learn it properly!

Please note: If you cannot join the National Ballet Company after 1 year of ballet classes, then the same applies to bellydancing. Bellydancing takes years of training, technique, and education. Please respect this culture and dance, by respecting the journey that comes along with it.

(Lotus Niraja does not foster, promote, support any student or NDC troupe member that begins teaching or performing professionally before they are ready. If a dancer references Lotus Niraja and The NDC or if you have any questions about any student of Lotus', please feel free to contact her directly. Lotus strives to have higher dance and instructional standards and will fully cooperate in order to maintain proper Bellydance Professionalism.)
